The top responses include 41.6% of the respondents who prefer to view online video via desktop 41.6%, 32.3% choose to view this content on a smartphone 26.1% view on a tablet. However, when the results are broken down by gender and age, particular preferences are presented. For example, when it comes to the gender break down, almost half of males (45.4%) and 39.3% of females prefer to view online video on a smartphone.

The key findings were revealed when the various age groups who took part in the survey were singled out. It would appear that there is a clear preference towards desktop and smartphone focusing on individuals aged over and under 35. The respondents aged under 35 have a greater tendency to watch online video on smartphones. 47.8% of the respondents aged 18 to 24 years old, as well as 42% of respondents aged 25 to 34 years old said that they prefer to watch this form of content on smartphones....

How to Use Periscope in Your Content Marketing

How to Use Periscope in Your Content Marketing | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

One of the hottest online trends of the summer has been the sharing of live streaming video via apps Periscope and Meerkat. Everywhere I turn I see people shooting videos of themselves (and accompanying scenery) and sharing it via Twitter and Facebook.

This phenomenon of everyday broadcasting is turning mobile phone users into solo broadcasters, sharing everything from weekend athletic events and nightclub action, to bicycle riding and scenic beach scenes. It’s nirvana for attention seekers. And it’s expected to grow: new data from Cisco shows that globally, consumer internet video traffic will be 80 percent of all consumer Internet traffic in 2019, up from 64 percent in 2014.

And it’s not just you and I using live streaming video apps, either. Already, brands and companies are tapping into the power of live streaming video to build fans and followers for the brands, and it’s certain to become a part of the digital social marketing landscape for a long time into the foreseeable future. Let’s take a closer look at one specific platform: Persicope.....

What makes video content marketing great? Follow these key principles

What makes video content marketing great? Follow these key principles | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

There is a cartoon from Tom Fishburne of Marketoonist where a young child says to her father at bedtime: “Daddy, instead of a story, can you read me some branded content?” Even though the cartoon was penned in 2013, the message still resonates. Anyone reading this will know content marketing can be a jewel in a campaign’s crown, but if it’s too obviously ‘branded content’, consumers will spot it a mile off and tune out much like they do with regular advertising.

By throwing another platform into the equation, such as video, it’s simply not good enough to assume the platform you’re using is the differentiator, and just repeat the same content. “The video media landscape is more sophisticated than ever, with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Vine revolutionising rich content discovery,” a paper from Cedar Consult argues. “The time has come for branded video to raise its game....”

Why Online Video Is a Must-Have for Your Mobile Marketing Strategy – Think with Google

Why Online Video Is a Must-Have for Your Mobile Marketing Strategy – Think with Google | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

In the mobile age, instead of a few "moments of truth" or a Zero Moment of Truth, consumers experience countless micro-moments throughout the day while exploring interests, solving problems, searching for products, and making decisions. These micro-moments are the new battleground for hearts, minds, and wallets.Increasingly, we're seeing that these moments happen while people are watching video on their mobile devices.

When it comes to digital video viewership, mobile's small but mighty screen is having a profound impact. In fact, 50% of global viewership on YouTube comes from mobile devices. And as we reported back in October, millennials are 2X more likely to be focused while watching video on mobile than while viewing it on TV.

To them, mobile isn't the second or third screen. It's the first. In our latest research with Ipsos MediaCT, we wanted to see how this enthusiasm for mobile video translates to brands. We surveyed U.S. consumers who watch videos on various devices and the results were striking. We found that smartphone video viewers are significantly more likely to watch, share, and feel personally connected to ads and branded video content than their counterparts watching on desktop or television are....

5 Video Apps to Boost Your Social Media Reach | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Do you want to increase your Social Media reach and make your message go viral? Are you tired of Facebook limiting the reach of your posts?

Video content is one of the best ways to increase your followers’ engagement on Social Media; and when engagement rises, your reach will also grow. The power of video as highly engaging content is the reason why most Social Media platforms are implementing new video products: video ads on Facebook, animated gifs on Twitter, the launch of Hyperlapse for Instagram, etc…

However, if you just create the same type of videos as everyone else, chances are, your followers will also ignore these posts. Users pay more attention to content that is unusual and unique. Posting another video is not enough. It needs to be different from what others are doing.

In this article, I will describe some apps for smartphones that will allow you to create outstanding and unique videos that will surely increase your engagement by making your videos stand out of the mass....

These Are the Top 6 Trends Shaping Video Content Today | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

There is life after the :30, brands earlier this year began experimenting with different video lengths to showcase their products and connect with consumers. Now, in short order, the focus is shifting to new video formats—everything from the short animated GIF, to the six-second Vine, to long-form video and even livestreaming broadcasts through platforms like Periscope.

Brand marketers are starting to see they can be effective at any unit length if the creative is compelling.Nike, for example, is a brand that consistently pushes the limits with video. It has become proficient at deploying the right video format to connect emotionally with viewers.

Nike has used looping GIFs to promote its Snkrs app, and launched a 12-second video dubbed "The World's Fastest Commercial" featuring Kobe Bryant and David Blaine. Earlier this month it launched a two-minute video to support the launch of the Jordan Super.Fly 4 sneaker.
