What Spending $57,000 on Instagram Taught Me | Neil Patel

What Spending $57,000 on Instagram Taught Me | Neil Patel | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

This made me think: how can I replicate Dan’s Instagram success, but with a much more toned-down version?

The toughest part of any marketing campaign is getting it off the ground. Once you have a proven model, scaling it becomes easy.

To get a head start, I hired Branden Hampton who has over 30 million social media followers among all his accounts. My goal was to pay Brandon to leverage his profiles and get his followers to come over to me.

But Brandon had a better idea. Why not start with an existing account that already has over 100,000 followers and then leverage his follower base?...

Neil Patel's weird social science experiment makes interesting reading if you can get past the flash and cash talk.

Here are some practical tips for using Instagram to build your fan base and generate sales revenue.

Scott Grodofsky's curator insight, October 8, 2014 6:50 PM

These is a great way to get people to like your page and get them to  look at your page regularly. There were a few ways that I felt would help gets consumers attention. If you add contest regularly people will be looking on your page more often. It doesn't have to be a big prize but if you give away something that will get peoples attention. Also I really like the idea of using direct (private) messaging. This makes followers feel like they have a part in the company. That is very important because it makes them feel special and it helps you stand out from other companies.

Good look at Instagram tools Statigr.am, Postso, Repost, Justunfollow and Twtrland.

Angelina's curator insight, July 22, 2014 8:24 AM

Ian Cleary has noticed the growing trend of Instagram users and proposed 5 Instagram tools that help users to better manage their marketing.

(1) Statigr.am allows Instagram users to manage their account more effectively through providing several functions: view your own or friends' feeds (interact with multiple images in a short amount of time), view statistics of one's account, snapshots of popular photos, manage and promote account to new users and to join contests to gain more recognition

(2) Repost is a mobile app that allow users to browse through content from your feeds and repost the content to attract attention in the community. This app works best if your account intends to do a collaboration with other users (people will know who is the original creator of the content as attribution of the user is displayed by default)

(3) Postso allows users to share multiple images instantly on social media, which saves time for users to post images one by one. Users can schedule their images to be posted at a specific timing.

(4) Justunfollow allows users to manage their followers on Instagram, which helps them to build their communities and unfollow anyone that are spamming them

(5) Twtrland allows users to analyze their own and competitors' accounts on social media. This helps users to build their communities and know the methods of gaining more attention on Instagram through viewing competitors' networks, interests and photos posted.

With these tools, Instagram will continue to grow in the future and people will have multiple ways to gain recognition and popularity online.

Brands Crowdsource Product Shoots via Instagram | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

In a world increasingly filtered through Instagram, a carefully crafted photo shoot starts to look dated. That's why retailers are rushing to crowdsource their product shots — harvesting a stream of photos from social platforms to help sell everything from West Elm couches to Coach handbags.

The photos are typically curated in galleries, where each picture is linked to a page selling the product. Increasingly, the amateur images are also showing up directly on product pages, next to professionally styled pictures.

"The path to purchase has evolved tremendously, and consumers are much more likely to trust their peers than a brand," said Mimi Banks, director of social media at L'Oreal's Lancome brand....

This article discusses the importance of Instagram for businesses. Adding Instagram to your social marketing mix can increase online reach and attract new business. The article explains how to start your business’ Instagram and gives recommendations on meaningful social media campaigns. The next part of the article gives some information about Instagram. It was launched in October 2010 and was bought by Facebook in April 2012. Instagram members can share photos and videos using the phone application or the online site. The next portion of the article discusses why a brand should be on Instagram. Around 200 million people and 75% of brands already have Instagram accounts. It is now one of the largest social media platforms. With these high numbers, there is a chance that your brand is already being mentioned on Instagram.

I believe that Instagram is a very big contender in social media. As the article stated, this platform is growing and will continue to gain more members. I know some people who check their Instagram more than their Facebook. When completing our social media audit, I noticed that some businesses lack presence with Instagram. Businesses should read this article to see how beneficial it is to have an Instagram account.
