How to Create a Cinemagraph in 7 Easy Steps

How to Create a Cinemagraph in 7 Easy Steps | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

As a marketer, you are probably already aware that images are important. They're easier to digest than a bunch of words on a page and can help support your other content by telling a story in ways that words cannot. Whether in social media posts or in blog posts, images help your audience to better understand what you are talking about, plain and simple.

Cinemagraphs can take things a step further.

What is a cinemagraph, you ask? The artists over at Cinemagraph.com – where the cinemagraph was essentially born – describe them as "an image that contains within itself a living moment that allows a glimpse of time to be experienced and preserved endlessly.

"In plain English, a cinemagraph is really just a fancy GIF – a file format often used to create short, infinitely-looping animations for the web. Check out the example below....

Ten Great Examples of Video Content Marketing

Ten Great Examples of Video Content Marketing | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Everyone likes to watch videos on the web.

According to official statistics from YouTube, they have ” over a billion users — almost one-third of all people on the Internet — and every day people watch hundreds of millions of hours on YouTube and generate billions of views.”  The statistics portal Statista notes “As of July 2015, more than 400 hours of video were uploaded to YouTube every minute, up from 300 hours per minute in November 2014.”

Wacky cats, wacky stunts, cute cats, cute kids, offensive comedy, and R-rated content are some of the most popular methods to drive traffic. But if someone is trying to promote a product, service, personality or other business, traffic isn’t always the most important metric. Reaching the right audience with the right message becomes the goal. Cute babies might get clicks, but not business.

Audiences are bombarded by words and messages. In a short attention world addicted to entertainment, videos serve as great vehicles for public relations. But videos can be expensive and time-consuming to produce. To discover what works, an all-star panel of publicists and marketers gave us their best advice and, along with me, selected a few of their favorites.  Here’s how to gain market share, reach audiences and achieve some of your public relations goals using video in a very competitive world.

Netflix Heads Digital Video Services List, But There Are Questions

Netflix Heads Digital Video Services List, But There Are Questions | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

You would probably guess right if you were asked “What are the top three digital video subscription services?” They are 1. Netflix 2. Amazon Video and 3. Hulu. No surprises there. But what about number four? According to Parks Associates, that goes to MLB.tv, baseball’s digital video offering. And the rest of the top ten list gets pretty interesting.

This is part of the OTT world, something you’ll be reading a lot about here at Lost Remote. For the uninitiated, OTT means “Over The Top,” and refers to any service that bypasses a cable box – by using Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and other devices. Some TVs even have OTT capabilities built in. This, I realize, is a simplified explanation. But I want everyone to get the point. Here’s Wikipedia’s expended definition.

Parks Associates list of the Top Ten U.S. Subscription OTT Video Services is:
1. Netflix
2. Amazon Video (Amazon Prime)
3. Hulu
4. MLB.TV
5. WWE Network
6. Sling TV
7. HBO Now
8. Crunchyroll
9. Showtime
10. CBS All Access

eMarketer Releases New Estimates for Video Audience Worldwide - eMarketer

eMarketer Releases New Estimates for Video Audience Worldwide - eMarketer | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

More than 62% of the world's internet users will view digital video in 2017, up from 60.8% in 2016. Digital video viewership's uptake has primarily occurred in developed markets such as the US, Canada and the UK, where internet infrastructure can meet the bandwidth demands of digital video. Strong internet speeds enable consumers to watch entire TV programs online through over-the-top (OTT) services and share videos via social media channels.

eMarketer projects the share of global internet users who watch digital video will increase marginally to 63.4% in 2020. While this growth is small, the consumers who view video will spend more time watching content.

Digital video viewership worldwide has recorded double-digit increases annually since 2013, but 2017 will mark the first year in which growth will fall to single-digit rates, at 8.2%. Developing markets such as India, Indonesia and the Middle East and Africa lag behind by this measure due to a lack of infrastructure that can provide access to mobile and household broadband....

In 2017, content will continue to be one of the most important marketing tactics for ecommerce businesses. Look for content marketers to produce a greater number of videos, focus on mobile media consumption, spend more money promoting content, produce more shows rather than standalone posts, and use technology to an advantage.

Content marketing is the act of creating, distributing, and promoting content, such as blog posts, articles, podcasts, and videos with the aim of attracting, engaging, and retaining customers. For ecommerce marketers, content can be a way of building a relationship with a shopper, which in turn will allow an online store to compete not on price or delivery speed, but on experience.

6 Tips To Use Video To Make The Complex Simple - eLearning Industry

6 Tips To Use Video To Make The Complex Simple - eLearning Industry | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

On-the-job training, vocational training, or academic courses can all involve helping learners understand complex information. The scale of the challenge is often amplified by the fact that complex information is expressed using terminology that our learners aren't familiar with, terminology that tends to confuse rather than aid learners.

Here is how to use microlearning and video to make the complex simple by applying these 6 tips to your Instructional Design.

1. Show Before Tell

You can use video to show learners a working example of a complex process, network, or product (or parts of it) before they are expected to understand or figure out how it works or how to build it. By doing this first, learners will have a frame of reference to support their understanding of the constituent parts....

2016 'It' Toy Already Sold Out, Leaving Parents In A Panic

2016 'It' Toy Already Sold Out, Leaving Parents In A Panic | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Toronto's Spin Master has done it again. The toy company that brought kids to a fervour over Zoomer robotic pets has created the hottest toy of 2016: Hatchimals. But they're already sold out everywhere, leaving parents in a panic.

WTF is a Hatchimal? Good question.

Imagine a large, speckled egg that hatches as a result of touch and sound. Inside, your child will find a bright, fuzzy robotic creature. It could be a Draggle, Penguala, Owlicorn, Burtle or Bearakeet (don't worry if you can't tell the difference, they look pretty similar.) That's when the fun starts. Kids then teach it to walk, talk and play using specific phrases.

"Hatchimals incorporate the very best elements of nurturing play with the interactivity of robotics in a truly innovative and entertaining way," Ben Varadi, Spin Master's chief creative officer, said in a press release. "This is one of the most unique products Spin Master has ever launched and we're confident that the consumer response will be strong."

Well, that's putting it mildly. The toy retails between $60 and $90 and it has sold out online everywhere. Sears, Toys R Us, Mastermind, Chapters... no one has it....

Coolest 2016 toy is already sold out. Watch the parent panic begin.

Twitter Just Shut Down Vine 4 Years After Buying It for $30 Million

Twitter Just Shut Down Vine 4 Years After Buying It for $30 Million | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Vine will not be an infinite loop.

It was four years ago this month when Twitter bought Vine for a reported $30 million, but now the relationship has fully withered. On a Medium blog post, Twitter revealed that it's shutting down the looping video app in the coming weeks.

"You'll be able to access and download your Vines," the post read. "We'll be keeping the website online because we think it's important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website."

How long the Vine videos will live on the website is unknown, but creation of the mobile app's six-second clips has already been halted. It's a fairly surprising move....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

That's a very surprising move by Twitter – to close down Vine after attracting 200 million users. The problem is, at six seconds, Vines were never long enough and too limited in scope to tell a real story. Twitter is likely to undergo big changes, very quickly in order to survive. The layoffs and live streaming of NFL football are first steps in a new path to the future.
