360-degree Content Could Revolutionize Consumer Experience on Mobile Apps

360-degree Content Could Revolutionize Consumer Experience on Mobile Apps | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Instead of tapping photos of shoe styles on retail mobile apps, imagine being able to pinch, swipe and tap to view the product in a 360-degree, interactive environment. Such experiences could soon be the norm on mobile, thanks to new technology enabling 360-degree immersive experiences.

In a nutshell, 360-degree video is video filmed in a complete, 360-degree panorama by using a special camera with multiple lenses. Users can click and drag inside the video to pan the perspective, allowing them to view the content from essentially any angle.

Several stunning examples of the technology are available on YouTube—but support is only available for desktop Chrome and Android devices. Users can pan around a hot air balloon in mid-flight for beautiful views, swim with the dolphins with GoPro, or experience a front-row seat on Saturday Night Live....

360° video content is just around the corner and think what it could mean it to marketing?

Video Content Makes Online Purchases 1.6 Times More Likely

Video Content Makes Online Purchases 1.6 Times More Likely | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Online retail video views are growing at a rapid pace and influencing shopper behavior, a new study finds. However, it’s specific video content, not just mere brand exposure, that’s largely dictating shopping behavior.

Invodo’s Video Conference Benchmarks Report gathered data from 100 retail clients across a wide range of verticals, and the findings were impressive: Marketing videos displayed to online shoppers made a conversion 1.6 times more likely. That figure was the average across all retail clients, but the top performers well outpaced the field, with the best video campaigns increasing the likelihood of a purchase by 3.3 times.

4 Ways To Engage Your Audience With Visual Storytelling On Facebook

4 Ways To Engage Your Audience With Visual Storytelling On Facebook | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Now I don’t know about you, but the words ‘visual storytelling’ really inspire me to answer. In fact, visuals have a better chance of catching users’ attention than any other form of content, and they can tell your brand’s story in a much more dynamic way than a block of text could.

Here are some eye-opening statistics:

  • Posts with visuals result in 180 percent greater engagement (source)
  • 93 percent of the most engaging Facebook posts are image posts (source)
  • Half of the human brain is involved in processing visuals. A visual can be interpreted in less than 1/10th of a second (take that goldfish) (source)

As a result, draping content with strong visuals and a story will allow for quick comprehension, even if your fans don’t actually read the copy.

Visual storytelling tactics for Facebook engagement

You may already have an established Facebook presence, but do your posts effectively engage your audiences? Here are some ways to engage them with visual storytelling...

How Creating an Emotional Response Helps Drive Action With Video

How Creating an Emotional Response Helps Drive Action With Video | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

After watching your videos, your audience should feel something. You don't need to be controversial, but you do need to elicit emotion to inspire your viewers into action....

While some content lends itself to emotion more easily than others (a whiteboard video might not be “emotional” in the traditional sense), your content is far more likely to inspire downloads, trials, demos, etc. if it elicits a powerful response fuelling your prospects’ follow through.

And remember, at the end of the day, “emotional” or inspiring content is simply stuff that makes you feel something. It doesn’t really matter if your audience is laughing or crying at the end of your video, but they better be feeling something or you’ll be easily forgotten or skipped over. Ultimately, if your on-screen personas, comedy, or message gets people to like the implied character of your brand, you’ve got the right idea....

Enchanting Consumers With Video Across Devices | Anjali Lai

Enchanting Consumers With Video Across Devices | Anjali Lai | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

...This data illustrates how the quintessential picture of linear TV viewing is dramatically evolving as tech-savvy viewers with new consumption appetites enter the picture. Consumers can now select their preferred screen based on the type of content they wish to view, and each device supports a unique need. This allows media consumption to become even more ubiquitous and transcend the boundaries of time and place.

In his recent report, my colleague Jim Nail reveals that this modern pattern of media consumption gives marketers new opportunities to harness the power of video and tell their brand stories. However, in order to do this successfully, marketing professionals must “factor in different attention and engagement by platform.” As Jim says, “up to this point, advertisers have largely assumed that a video ad performs similarly whether it’s on TV, online, or on a mobile phone . . . TV may still have the larger audiences, but the smaller, more attentive audiences on other devices may drive higher message communication.”...

Video Production Is on the Rise – But Who’s Watching? | Mediashift | PBS | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
There’s significant momentum for publishers toward increasing the production of video content, on account of both the strength of video as a medium for storytelling and high video CPMs as advertisers begin to move their TV spends online (see the Chicago Tribune’s coverage for one example). An increase in video content across the board, of course, means that it’s all the more important that we have a sense of which parts of our audience we can hope to reach with video. To that end, below is a brief survey of the state of online audiences and their consumption of video.

5 Video Apps to Boost Your Social Media Reach

5 Video Apps to Boost Your Social Media Reach | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Do you want to increase your Social Media reach and make your message go viral? Are you tired of Facebook limiting the reach of your posts?

Video content is one of the best ways to increase your followers’ engagement on Social Media; and when engagement rises, your reach will also grow. The power of video as highly engaging content is the reason why most Social Media platforms are implementing new video products: video ads on Facebook, animated gifs on Twitter, the launch of Hyperlapse for Instagram, etc…

However, if you just create the same type of videos as everyone else, chances are, your followers will also ignore these posts. Users pay more attention to content that is unusual and unique. Posting another video is not enough. It needs to be different from what others are doing.

In this article, I will describe some apps for smartphones that will allow you to create outstanding and unique videos that will surely increase your engagement by making your videos stand out of the mass....

YouTube is Now Bigger Than Facebook in the U.S.

YouTube is Now Bigger Than Facebook in the U.S. | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

YouTube has just passed Facebook and is bigger - Now the largest social media site in the U.S. Yes, that's right - the largest social media site.

I was among the first to show that YouTube was the third largest search engine in a presentation entitled, “Getting Found in All the Right Places,” at a SEMNE event on Nov. 7, 2007. And I may have been the first to observe that YouTube was about to pass Yahoo! in expanded searches in a story that was published in Search Engine Watch on July 20, 2008. So, I suspect that the second part of the line, “YouTube has grown to become … the second most-used platform for searching,” is old news.

If anyone wants an update, here’s the U.S. data from comScore qSearch for May 2014: Google had 12.5 billion explicit core searches, YouTube had 4.0 billion search queries, Microsoft had 3.5 billion searches, and Yahoo! had 1.8 billion....

Now that youtube is bigger than Facebook, it's time to rethink your marketing strategy.
