The One Tip You Need to Generate Massive Leads with Pinterest

The One Tip You Need to Generate Massive Leads with Pinterest | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Well, for one of our clients, 48 percent of his traffic 57% of new contacts came from Pinterest.

...This example of the smoothie recipes is almost too easy. I know. But that doesn’t mean your landscaping company has no choice but to create ebooks about smoothies! Let’s say you created an ebook on starting a vegetable garden. The planning process may be broken down into  a few steps. Then there is preparation, a trip to the nursery or hardware store, etc. Each of those steps could use its own pinnable image. You could either create one template and change out the text. Or, you could use colorful images of vegetables and gardens with some text outlining a specific tip or step in the process.

And that, my friends, is my #1 tip for how to get massive numbers of leads from Pinterest.

Pinterest's take on direct messages blows Twitter's out of the water

Pinterest's take on direct messages blows Twitter's out of the water | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

If there’s one thing the App Store is saturated with, it’s messengers: WhatsApp, of course, but also Facebook’s, and Snapchat, and Hangouts, and Line, and Kik, and all the rest. So why would Pinterest, a social network for exploring your interests, spend time building a messenger?

The answer says a lot about where Pinterest is going — and the product itself is one of the best things we’ve seen from Pinterest to date.

In part, Pinterest messages simply closed the loop that the company stvvvgvgarted when they introduced the ability to send pins to your friends on the network last year. Today, Pinterest users send 2 million pins a day on the service. But to date there has been no native way of responding to the pins, short of sending your friend or co-worker an email.

That’s where Pinterest messages come in. "We see it as heavier weight than a Facebook Messenger," says Tom Watson, the product’s designer. "It’s more of a conversation around an object than just a quick hello."...

Pinterest serves up a Twitter message challenger.

Pinning for PR: 3 successful Pinterest campaigns

Pinning for PR: 3 successful Pinterest campaigns | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

With each passing day, PR is being nudged away from the familiar comfort of text-based communications to more visual forms of communications, especially in digital campaigns.

Today, among other platforms, Pinterest must be part of your social PR campaign strategy, especially if your target audience is female. It’s easy to dismiss Pinterest as a site where women just share pictures of fashion and food, but do so at your peril. Consider this:

• One-third of the women in the U.S. use Pinterest, according to Pew Research Center’sSocial Media Update 2013.
• 85 percent of the estimated 40.1 million monthly Pinterest users in the United States in 2014 are female.
• New data from social sharing service ShareThis shows that for the first time, Pinterest outpaced email to become the third-most popular sharing channel in the fourth quarter of 2013.
• Pinterest is the channel of choice for moms, who share three times more than the average user, according to MarketingLand.com.

Still need to be convinced? Here are three examples of creative and effective PR campaigns using Pinterest as a central communications hub:

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Pinterest and PR can be a winning combination when integrated as these three successful campaigns show.

Nailed It: Buzzfeed Cracks The Pinterest Code | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Buzzfeed is one of of the fastest growing media companies ever, with a monthly audience of 150 million and counting, thanks chiefly to its unmatched understanding of what people will read or share on Facebook.

Just two years after it started explicitly producing content intended for sharing on Pinterest, the $5 billion visual social network is already Buzzfeed’s second biggest source of social referrals, beating out runner-up Twitter.

*Dao Nguyen, Buzzfeed’s vice president of growth and data, says most publishers probably aren’t paying enough attention to Pinterest as a potential traffic source. “Pinterest is huge. It’s giant,” Nguyen says. “It’s regular. I wouldn’t say it’s predictable, because very few networks are, but it’s untapped.”...

Pinterest tips and tricks for business

Pinterest tips and tricks for business | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Pinterest just keeps on growing and has attained strength of 70 million users. Once you have got the hang on pins and boards and repinning, you might wonder what else there is to Pinterest. Pinterest can help your business grow if only you know and use some of the less known tricks.

The strategy – of simply pinning your own images and expecting others to repin – will not carry you far. You must seriously engage with others by repinning content. One assured way to develop new followers is to tag the original pinner in the description section.

There is a misconception that Pinterest users are on the site only for merrymaking. This is untrue as many Pinterest users are there to shop. When you are selling your products on Pinterest, make sure to include a price tag on the image. It is reported that pins with price tags attract 35 % more likes than those without price tags....

Toms scored huge brand awareness and sales during the contest as pinners posted beautiful pictures that spread across their personal networks. The campaign shows the expanding influence of visual social media sites, and in the coming years, more brands will take part in this growing trend....

With the launch of paid pins, Pinterest's reckoning moment has arrived

With the launch of paid pins, Pinterest's reckoning moment has arrived | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

After what can only be described as “forever” in tech years, not to mention raising half a billion in venture capital, Pinterest is finally looking to to monetize. In case you were hiding under some sort of rock and missed the big news, the company has rolled out paid advertising pins.

In a classic effort to downplay the importance of this new revenue generator to the future of its business, Pinterest chose to roll out the news via a blog post and a few last minute emails to reporters. This is a stark contrast to the h’ordeuvres filled whoop-de-doo that the company normally hosts at its Carnival-themed headquarters when announcing important news.

Each subsequent evening at Pinterest HQ failed to deliver a promoted pins announcement, but rather amounted to big PR pushes for Place Pins and then Guided Search. But now, when Pinterest finally has significant news for its business to share, it keeps the fanfare to a minimum....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Curious way to announce that you finally have revenue isn't it? What's up with Pinterest?

Laura Brown's comment, May 15, 2014 12:17 PM
Likely the paid pins will be added to user accounts whether they like it or not. So Pinterest might be hoping to start quietly and not have it get a lot of media attention in order to keep account holders from having a fit about it.

Would You Rather be Social or Interesting? - Jeffbullas's Blog | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

The “Interest Graph” is not the “Social Graph”. But what does that mean and why should you care?

Despite the rapid ascent of Interest-based platforms, such as Pinterest, Sulia, WeHeartIt and Wanelo, we rarely see dialogue about the Interest Graph except in a Social context. However, The Interest Graph and Social Graph are two fundamentally different infrastructures with different underlying assumptions for marketers.
