10 Instagram Strategies for Creative Marketers

10 Instagram Strategies for Creative Marketers | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Instagram has seen incredible growth since it was acquired by Facebook in 2012 -- in fact it’s grown by 400 percent! That's why for marketers, it can be an extremely helpful tool.

Why Instagram?

First, Instagram is easy to use, which is a big plus. Also, it’s not (yet) as ad-driven as Facebook, making it a friendlier option for those who prefer to spend marketing funds elsewhere.

Since Instagram is visual, capturing someone’s attention on Instagram is much easier than on Facebook. Plus, the meaty part of this, is that it drives 58 times more engagement per follower than Facebook, and 120 times more than Twitter. That’s significant to anyone who likes numbers!

Creative Instagram strategies

By its very nature, Instagram leaves lots of room for creativity. But, if you’re planning to use the network as a marketing channel, it’s best to put some strategy in place before leaping into the fray. Beyond the obvious items like having a solid bio with your URL, a great profile photo and connecting your account to Facebook, I’ve pulled together several ideas worth considering....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Instagram is a great place to be for anyone looking to market anything.

Using Instagram to Sell Products Just Became Much Easier

Using Instagram to Sell Products Just Became Much Easier | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Instagram has rolled out a game-changer for businesses: brands can now sell products directly from the app.

The photo-sharing app introduced a new ‘tap to view’ button on November 1, 2016. The button gives shoppers the opportunity to learn more about an item in an image, as well as the option to go directly to the retailer’s website to purchase the item.

Vishal Shah, head of product management for monetization at Instagram, explained the inspiration to Recode: “We’ve seen pretty good progress in mobile on making purchases easier. But these two things—discovery and the actual purchase—are just not well-connected like happens in physical stores.”

The network’s announcement post explained: “Most mobile shopping experiences today take people from the shop window right to check out—without giving consumers the opportunity to consider a product and get more information.”...

With so many companies using Instagram, and many people on the platform interacting with them, there was a desire from our business community to do more. So we listened. And, after hundreds of interviews with businesses, three key needs became clear—stand out, get insights and find new customers.

First, businesses want the ability to stand out on Instagram. Many companies, including a furniture store in San Francisco, shared that it would be easier for customers to email questions because comments are hard to track and take time to sift through. Second, businesses want a simple way to get insights. A retailer in Austin explained that many analytics are overwhelming and hard to apply to its marketing. And third, businesses want to reach even more customers. A do-it-yourself craft shop in New York City mentioned it’s always looking for quick ways to fill seats in class.

With these insights in mind, we set out to make Instagram work even better for businesses. So today, we’re excited to unveil our new Instagram Business Tools....

What to Post on Instagram: 18 Photo & Video Ideas to Spark Inspiration

What to Post on Instagram: 18 Photo & Video Ideas to Spark Inspiration | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Instagram isn't just a go-to social network for individuals anymore. Many marketers have caught wind that it's a powerful social network they need to have some sort of presence on.

The platform's heavy emphasis on visual content like photos, videos, illustrations, and GIFs is becoming a critical way for brands to communicate their story and message.

Plus, it's a great way for businesses to humanize their brand, recruit future employees, showcase their product and content, and delight and engage customers.

One particularly great thing about Instagram is that it isn't just for still photography. There's a lot of directions to go with each post, whether it's posting shots from behind-the-scenes, videos, animated GIFs, holiday-themed content, contests and giveaways, reposts of followers and employees ... the list goes on....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Check out these 18 ideas for videos, photos, and other content you can post on Instagram.

The Best (And Most Beautiful) B2B Instagram Examples | NewsCred

The Best (And Most Beautiful) B2B Instagram Examples | NewsCred | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

B2B Instagram accounts tend to have a bad reputation. They usually feature a lot of employee group shots, maybe some at industry conferences, or even office images if they’re lucky enough to have a sleek design. Unfortunately, many of these accounts are not very exciting. The surprising thing is, however, that many of these brands have great content marketing hubs.

So why the disconnect? Perhaps the reason for this has to do with the fact that they may be using the channel for a different business case, something like recruiting. In reality, any social channel, whether it be Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest, should be viewed as an extension of and a distribution channel for your content marketing program.

Some of the content may be created specifically for that channel, but the tone, messaging, and overall look and feel should remain consistent. Here are my favorite examples of B2B brands who get it right when it comes to using Instagram as an extension of their content marketing....

However, with Instagram’s timeline now also algorithmically sorted and the aforementioned growth in engagement with video on the platform, it’s likely that these engagement rates will continue to rise.

It’s important to note that having a successful Instagram video strategy does not mean you’ll be able to directly transplant it to other networks. Although there are some elements that will cross over, and if the video itself is unique enough it will take off regardless, Instagram is very much its own place.

There will be differences from platform to platform, so assuming that the videos that you produce for your Facebook page will be immediate success on Instagram is a bad idea.
