Here Are the 100 Trends That Will Shape Your Marketing World in 2017 | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Well then. Here's one for all you culture buffs who pride yourselves on staying abreast of trends as they come and go each year. New York-based sparks & honey is out with its annual A-Z Culture Glossary of 2017: The Trends You Know to be Relevant, a compendium of cultural trends the agency predicts will...wait for it...change the world in 2017! To get one thing out right up front: Trump is nowhere to be found on the list.

This is the agency's third outing of the list which, to date, has received over 2.4 million views on Slide Share. Which makes perfect sense because some of the trends and terms used to describe those trends are just whack.

To come up with the list, the agency uses a framework called the Elements of Culture to organize its cultural trends. The 100 trends in the report are broken into the following five categories: Aesthetics, Media, Tech/Science, Humanity and Ideology.  Among the trends to watch for 2017 are....

10 social media trends govt communicators should pay attention to in 2016 | Auralie Valtat | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

More and more, those who look ahead will have an advantage in digital communications, in particular on social media. Anticipating future trends is not just fun, and incredibly difficult too, it’s also vital if you want to be able to allocate your resources properly and develop an integrated communications approach across online and offline channels.

So, after some #Brusselslockdown week-end reading (Forrester, Gartner, Social Media Today, Mashable and more), here’s my take on what the 10 most probable social media trends of 2016 look like, with a focus on government communicators and how they can adapt to or anticipate these trends. Would love to hear about other trends I missed out on.

Here’s a visual summarizing the 10 trends, in case you’re lazy – aren’t we all? Probably trend 11 :-)....

The Industries That Are Being Disrupted the Most by Digital

The Industries That Are Being Disrupted the Most by Digital | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

We’re at a critical time for the digital economy. Digital is no longer the shiny front end of the organization – it’s integrated into every aspect of today’s companies. As digital technologies continue to transform the economy, many leaders are struggling to set a digital strategy, shift organizational structures, and remove the barriers that are keeping them from maximizing the potential impact of new digital technologies.

Every year, Russell Reynolds Associates surveys more than 2,000 C-level executives on the impact, structure, barriers, and enablers of digital technologies across 15 industries. The barometer below shows the percentage of executives surveyed who responded that their business would be moderately or massively disrupted by digital in the next 12 months, broken down by industry....

4 Ways the Social Media Landscape Will Change in 2016 - Pardot

4 Ways the Social Media Landscape Will Change in 2016 - Pardot | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

One of the most interesting studies I’ve read recently is Gartner’s Top Strategic Predictions for 2016 and Beyond: The Future Is a Digital Thing, a report published in October that delves into the evolving relationship between man and machine. The key takeaway? “Smart” and predictive technologies aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, and that applies to our business lives as much as it does to our personal ones.

-  By 2018, 20% of all business content will be authored by machines.

-  By 2020, smart agents will facilitate 40% of mobile interactions, and the post-app era will begin to dominate.

-  By 2018, 6 billion connected things will be requesting support.

The implications of our increasingly smart world are both inspiring and frightening (as a copywriter, hearing that machines are making their way into the content realm is particularly scary!). As I started thinking about 2016 trends, it quickly became apparent that many of these same digital themes are making their way into the content marketing and social media spaces — and have been for some time.

Let’s take a look at some of the key trends we can expect to see over the next year. How will content and social — both already digital in so many ways — become increasingly digital in 2016?...
