Thematic - Nice Tool for Creating Visual Stories | Richard Byrne

Thematic - Nice Tool for Creating Visual Stories | Richard Byrne | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Thematic is a new service designed for building and sharing visual stories. Thematic allows you to display up to twenty pictures organized around a theme of your choosing. You can add one line of text to each image in your story. Your completed story is displayed in a vertically scrolling format with each of your images occupying all of the available space in your browser. Completed stories can be shared publicly or kept private. Each public story can be shared via Twitter, Facebook, email, or embedding into a webpage. I've embedded my sample story below.
Jeff Domansky's insight:

Thematic is an interesting social tool for creating stories with minimal text. Worth exploring for a range of interesting creative applications.

Aesop Story Engine: An Open Source WordPress Plugin For Storytelling

Aesop Story Engine: An Open Source WordPress Plugin For Storytelling | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

The Aesop Story Engine is one of the most beautiful tools for WordPress that I’ve seen in a long time. Named for Aesop, the master story teller whose fables are woven into our cultural consciousness, this engine provides a powerful suite of multimedia storytelling tools. The Aesop Story Engine plugin was created to be a foundation for building feature-rich, interactive, long-form storytelling themes for WordPress.

The engine powers the Aesop Hosted Storytelling site where users can create stories for free. The Aesop development team has released it as an open source WordPress plugin, making it possible for you to add the same storytelling capabilities to your own website....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Sarah Googing looks at a very interesting storytelling tool and WordPress plugin. Though it will need further technical refining, it's beautifully designed, feature rich and definitely a tool to watch and try out.

Metta = Storytelling + Polls In One Compact Format

Metta = Storytelling + Polls In One Compact Format | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Metta helps turning stories into short movies out of pictures, videos, text and sounds that are already published on the web. Polls and quizzes can also be embedded anywhere inside a video presentation to get controlled responses from viewers.

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Very interesting tool with potential for content marketing pros.  I'll give it a test drive and provide a review in the near future.

Storination : Storination

Storination : Storination | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Why join storination?

To create in less than a minute a beautiful Storyboard with awesome content curated by you and others.
Storination lets you create online communities called a Nation, where people share social stories on the same topic. After opening your Nation, you organize your Storyboard, a virtual space where anybody can contribute by adding his own Storify story.

How to start a Nation ?

Connect with your twitter account and open your first Nation. A Nation is an online community on any kind of topic. It's a space where you and other people add into a storyboard social stories. Customize your Nation like a blog by uploading a logo, and a large cover. Now, you can publish a Storify story by collecting photos, video, tweets... or If you prefer, just import social stories directly from Storify to your Nation.

Jeff Domansky's insight:

I'm looking forward to exploring this tool which fits together nicely with Storify.

Jeff Domansky's curator insight, July 1, 2013 3:09 PM

Storination is a new storytelling tool with tons of potential. Just starting to explore but it looks exciting for collaborative storytelling and community building around stories, themes or ideas. Hat tip to Giuseppe Mauriello for pointing it out.

Adobe Voice review: Video storytelling software captures some of Apple's magic | Macworld

Adobe Voice review: Video storytelling software captures some of Apple's magic | Macworld | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
What's your story? Adobe's brilliant new Voice app, released Thursday, is designed to help you answer that question. Here's our review.

When you first launch Voice, you’re presented with a quick tutorial video about the app. Its basic tenet: Vocals are key. When you create anything in Voice, you start by laying down a short audio recording. You can then add royalty-free clipart, photos, or text (or all three), and blend it with some backing music....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Macworld says: "For the inexperienced presentation-maker, Voice is a godsend. It’s simple to learn, hard to mess up, and fills a gap that Apple’s Keynote and Microsoft’s PowerPointprobably didn’t even realize they were leaving. Even more experienced users may enjoy this program for quick-hit pieces—after all, sometimes it’s in the limitations, not the features, where you can find true beauty."

Free Technology for Teachers: Three Good Tools for Creating Multimedia Books Online

Free Technology for Teachers: Three Good Tools for Creating Multimedia Books Online | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Twice this week I've been asked for alternatives to iBooks Author that students can use to create multimedia books. This is probably a good time to share the three options that I usually recommend. These are listed in the order in which I typically recommend them...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Perfect for marketing and story telling too. Take a good look at SimpleBooklet, Widbooks and Glossi. Highly recommended.  9 / 10
