How Coca-Cola uses Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+ | Econsultancy | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

While putting together our recent series of posts looking at how major brands use the four main social networks I’ve somehow managed to overlook Coca-Cola, so today I have rectified that startling omission. Coca-Cola is one of those instantly recognisable brands that would rake in fans and followers without even trying, so it’s to its credit that it has active account across the social web. The Key To Social Selling? Disruptive Hustle | Social Media Today

The Key To Social Selling? Disruptive Hustle | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

...Instead, a marketer's best friend is a theory by the name "disruptive hustle." By painstakingly forging one-to-one relationships, a brand can effectively separate themselves from competition.

Social users love lodging complaints. According to a recent study, 47% of social media users now actively seek customer service through social media.

Furthermore, 83% of Twitter users and 71% of Facebook users expect a response within a day, and 50% expect that response within two hours.

Those numbers mean one thing - customers take social media very, very seriously. Purchasing decisions are heavily influenced and discussed on social networks. Buying and discussing products has always been a personal activity. If customers aren't happy with your performance, they'll be more than happy to tell you.

Your customers take to social media to address problems. Therefore, so should you....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

The challenge is clear. "Old" marketing doesn't work anymore. But social media will require social businesses to monitor, listen, talk with customers, and.... well, hustle.

Why Offline Businesses Need Online Marketing - Search Engine Journal | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

You have a local based brick and mortar business, so no reason to invest in online marketing, right? Location based businesses couldn’t be more wrong.

Do not miss out on sales and customers by ignoring or avoiding online marketing. One of the key principles of business is to be where your target audience is looking for you. A growing number of consumers are searching online before making a purchase decision, so your business needs to be there in order for them to find you and include your company in their decision making process.

According to the BIA/Kelsey report, 97% of consumers use online media before making local purchases. Google Research showed that 9 out of 10 internet searches resulted in a follow up action, such as calling or visiting the business.

Mobile searches triggered an additional action or conversion 73% of the time; and 28% of mobile searches resulted in a store visit or purchase. Since mobile searches are on the rise, this behavior is only going to continue to increase....

Four takeaways for brick and mortar businesses looking to take advantage of online marketing...

11 B2B Content Marketing Case Studies with Killer Marketing Performance

11 B2B Content Marketing Case Studies with Killer Marketing Performance | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

...One of the interesting things about these B2B content marketing campaigns is a fairly consistent LACK of attention to optimizing content assets (images & infographics, video, PDFs, etc) for search. Many of these campaign assets could continue to attract new prospects or at least attract more than they are if the assets were more visibile for relevant keywords. Just using the titles of the files and documents was difficult to find many of these.

Many of these content assets are near invisible when it comes to buyer-centric keywords. Just remember marketers, when it comes to content, there’s no excuse not to socialize, advertise, publicize AND optimize. This approach represents a lot of what we do at TopRank Marketing. Here’s the full deck for details on each Killer Content Marketing campaign plus performance data. Enjoy!

CapitalOneSparkVoice: Marketing To Millennials: You Have To Do It Their Way

CapitalOneSparkVoice: Marketing To Millennials: You Have To Do It Their Way | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Secrets to millennial marketing success? ... Fromm recommends small businesses constantly make “little bets,” taking small risks on novel products and services that might hit big.

“If you’re going to win with millennials, you have to temporarily suspend your notion of ROI and EBITDA,” he says. “You have to make little bets and see if they win or lose in the real world. Test things that are way beyond your definition of normal and see if they work. Technology allows you to do that every day.”

Social channels will tell you quickly if your wagers are effective or not. “The little-bets theory is based on the fact that millennials are willing to experiment because it’s part of their adventurous DNA,” Fromm says. “And if it’s a hit with millennials, others will follow.”...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

here's a great reminder that social marketing sometimes takes different timeouts and certainly doesn't follow the usual quarter by quarter earnings, life or death measurements of Wall Street.

Sink or Swim: How to Stay Afloat While Managing Social Media Presence for your Small Business

Sink or Swim: How to Stay Afloat While Managing Social Media Presence for your Small Business | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
A recent study conducted by the online marketing firm Vertical Response and reported on in Forbes concludes that small businesses are spending more time on social media but struggling with the added workload it represents. Perhaps as a consequence, most are doing social media marketing in a vacuum because they’re not tracking results, which means they have no way of quantifying if their time and effort are paying off. “Our survey confirms that small businesses are understanding the value of social media,” says Vertical Response CEO and founder Janine Popick. “They’re spending more time doing it, and investing more money into it at a faster rate. But the extra work will likely lead to time management issues, especially for the small business owner who’s handling social media on top of all the other responsibilities of running a company. This implies that small businesses are in need of tactics and tools now to help them save time.”...
