Video creativity: Why are brands creating blah content?

Video creativity: Why are brands creating blah content? | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Video content reach is at an all-time high, but brands still don't generate more than 1,000 views. Where has all the creativity gone?

...With Americans clicking on and watching more videos than ever, brands must set their campaigns apart from the competition, which Pixability, a YouTube-certified marketing company, found is easier said than done. The agency noted that more than 50 percent of 200,000 business videos across 1,270 YouTube Channels have fewer than 1,000 views. Because the aggregate production value totals more than $4.3 billion, it’s clear companies aren’t seeing the content ROI they hoped for during production....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Despite the power of video, research shows a huge lack of creativity and proper planning are holding companies back from getting results on YouTube and other social media channels.

Naomi Assaraf's curator insight, July 19, 2013 12:04 AM

It is interesting, isn't it? Tons of brands, but blah video content. Now that Instagram Video is finally taking off, I'm curious to see who'll cut through the blahdom. Personally, I thought the #jobsmovie did a great job, and I love that #comicon had an instagram video scavenger hunt! I think Instagram will change the way videos are branded, and that will help ROI through content.

Why You Should Make Video Content For Your Brand | Magnet Minute | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

On this week’s Magnet Minute episode, our host talks about the importance of using video content for your branding and marketing....

This week on the Magnet Minute, Amy discusses a Gigaom article about a study on the status of video content. According to the study, video will be more prevalent than social media in the coming years, indicating that by 2017, video streaming users will outnumber those active on social networks. That information should be more than enough reason for you to get your business moving on developing new ideas to reach your audience through video content. You’ve likely been urged to do this before, but this is a content medium that’s going to be far too serious (especially in regards to the marketing world) for you to bypass....

Social Media for Business: Get Social or Get Lost | Social Media Today

Social Media for Business: Get Social or Get Lost | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Looking back upon my middle school years of Xanga and Myspace, it’s mind blowing to examine how greatly social media has evolved in the past ten years. The rapid evolution of the social web has brought new brand leaders and businesses to the forefront, while leaving some well-established Fortune 500 companies in the dust. Many successful companies wonder why they should adapt to new practices and use social media for business. Social media research conducted by the Harvard Business Review found that 79 percent of companies surveyed are using or plan to use social media in the future. So what happens to that other 21 percent? Are they affected by the changing dynamic of reputation management and online business practices?

The answer is yes.

My advice? Get social or get lost....

What makes video content marketing great? Follow these key principles

What makes video content marketing great? Follow these key principles | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

There is a cartoon from Tom Fishburne of Marketoonist where a young child says to her father at bedtime: “Daddy, instead of a story, can you read me some branded content?” Even though the cartoon was penned in 2013, the message still resonates. Anyone reading this will know content marketing can be a jewel in a campaign’s crown, but if it’s too obviously ‘branded content’, consumers will spot it a mile off and tune out much like they do with regular advertising.

By throwing another platform into the equation, such as video, it’s simply not good enough to assume the platform you’re using is the differentiator, and just repeat the same content. “The video media landscape is more sophisticated than ever, with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Vine revolutionising rich content discovery,” a paper from Cedar Consult argues. “The time has come for branded video to raise its game....”
