LinkedIn Marketing Best Practices | Social Media Today

LinkedIn Marketing Best Practices | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

LinkedIn is great for making new connections, staying in the know about industry news and trends, sharing content, building and maintaining a following, and amplifying brand reach and visibility....

LinkedIn has an outstanding visitor-to-lead conversion rate of 2.74%, which is approximately three times higher than the conversion rates of Facebook and Twitter. The most common and detrimental mistake brands make on LinkedIn is creating overly “salesy” marketing. LinkedIn is a social network, so be social; set your sights on being an informational resource and providing links to highly shareable content jam-packed with deep industry insight and valuable solutions.

You must foster real connections and genuine engagement to attain success. Do not over-automate your LinkedIn activity or blast promotional spam; such tactics will not fly on LinkedIn. Strategic mastery of LinkedIn will allow you to amplify engagement, effectively promote your company, increase lead generation, gain influence and attract new business. Compared to other social networks, LinkedIn users are more focused on business and career, which increases the impact of relevant industry content...

3 Easy Ways to Strengthen Your LinkedIn Network

3 Easy Ways to Strengthen Your LinkedIn Network | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

I spend a lot of time teaching job seekers how to make new connections on LinkedIn. Constantly meeting new people and growing your professional network is crucial to uncovering job leads and building a successful and lasting career. But today we’re going to talk about another important piece of networking that is often neglected: maintaining your connections once you have them. As the old song says, “Make new friends, but keep the old….” You can’t build up a new network every time you look for a job or have a career need; think of your longer-term connections as a deep bench of teammates that – as long as you stay connected – will be your supporters for years to come....

Such simple and effective advice. Well worth following.

How Are People Really Using LinkedIn?

How Are People Really Using LinkedIn? | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Professional networking service LinkedIn blasted through the 100-million-user mark in March, making it even more powerful for finding a job, keeping up with colleagues and promoting your resume.

LinkedIn is growing so quickly, it's adding a new member each second. As the size of its network grows, LinkedIn is steadily getting more useful. But how are people really using the fast-growing service? Researchers at Lab 42 asked 500 LinkedIn users that question and many more, and came up with a variety of answers in this infographic.

Among the fun facts they uncovered: We found it interesting the way top level executives use the service in vastly different ways from entry-level workers. Let us know in the comments how you like to use LinkedIn, or if you don't use the service, why not?...

7 Must-Haves to Grow an Audience Via LinkedIn Groups - Business 2 Community

7 Must-Haves to Grow an Audience Via LinkedIn Groups - Business 2 Community | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

LinkedIn Groups provide a place for professionals in the same industry or with similar interests to share content, find answers, post and view jobs, make business contacts, and establish themselves as industry experts. I leverage LinkedIn Groups to connect with like minded individuals who can collaborate over new ideas.

I have joined 46 different groups, started my own group and actively contribute to most groups. I post to my blog twice a week and if any of my content is applicable to a particular group, I will post a link to the blog post along with a thought-provoking discussion question. I usually get a few likes or comments per discussion post. However, I posted my article “What Everybody Ought To Know About…The Myth Of Experience“ into the “Future Trends” LinkedIn Group on Sunday April 28th and (to date) it’s generated 32 likes and 101+ comments. The next closest article in the group has only 39 comments.

I do not share these stats to impress you but rather impress upon you how valuable LinkedIn Groups can be for your brand or business....

10 Questions to Ask When Creating Your LinkedIn Company Page

10 Questions to Ask When Creating Your LinkedIn Company Page | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Given LinkedIn's more than 200 million members, a company page on the popular professional networking site can provide a valuable venue for recruiting talent and promoting your products and services. But while setting up a LinkedIn company page is relatively common, some business owners have questions and wind up making potentially costly mistakes. To generate the kind of results you're looking for, it's important to consider many details when setting up a company page on LinkedIn.

Cambridge, Mass.-based business-to-business marketing software firm HubSpot, for instance, found LinkedIn to be nearly 300 percent more effective for visitor-to-lead generation than Facebook and Twitter, says Kipp Bodnar, HubSpot marketing director and co-author of The B2B Social Media Book (Wiley, 2012)....

Daily LinkedIn To-Do List: Advanced LinkedIn Tip | Integrated Alliances

Daily LinkedIn To-Do List: Advanced LinkedIn Tip | Integrated Alliances | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

You’ve heard that people are generating leads and closing clients using LinkedIn and wonder how to join the LinkedIn Success Club.

Here is the secret: consistently connecting and engaging. It’s simple that really.

Time: What are the best days to engage on LinkedIn?

Start by finding out when your desired clients and prospects are on LinkedIn. This is critical because you need to be there when they are ready to engage: if your clients are online on Sunday evening, then that’s the best time to engage and post. Most social sharing is done Monday through Friday; however, most social engagement is Thursday through Sunday.

Frequency: How frequently should you post, comment and share on LinkedIn?

The best frequency is 3-5 days a week, twice a day. More is better on Twitter, but you can exhaust your LinkedIn audience. Keep your posts valuable and relevant to your desired client.

Duration: How much time should you spend on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn expert Lori Ruff suggests 30-45 minutes a day, broken down into 10-15 minute slots throughout the day: once in the morning, around lunch time and then towards the end of the day....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

This is a really useful set of tips to make you more successful on LinkedIn.
