It’s always fascinating to hear artists who create history recount back-stories in their own words. When I interview 1960s rock icons, I try to ask what they remember about the moment they wrote and/or recorded their big hits.

In the past, we’ve done similar interviews with Art Garfunkel (Sounds of Silence), Cream’s late Jack Bruce (Sunshine Of Your Love) and Johnny Rivers (Secret Agent Man). In separate interviews with three of the four surviving members of Jefferson Airplane – Grace Slick, and Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen – we discussed the hits Somebody To Love and White Rabbit from the Surrealistic Pillow album.
