The Why, What, and How of Blogger Outreach for Your Clients

The Why, What, and How of Blogger Outreach for Your Clients | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

...When new B2C clients ask me what the benefits are of working with bloggers, I usually say something to the effect of: it's about marketing to people who will tell others about you (think word-of-mouth marketing).

Outreach let's you tap into influencers' reach and communities to get the right niche of people talking about your business, which ultimately impacts product/service trust and consumer purchasing behavior.

But, unless you're a smooth talker (which, I'm definitely not), then this elevator pitch won't be enough to convince your client to go with blogger outreach promotion. So instead, I've broken down 3 main talking points of why your B2C clients should want to work with bloggers....

How to Evaluate Small Business Blogs

How to Evaluate Small Business Blogs | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

To evaluate small business blogs, forget about the numbers. Instead, look to first impressions and storytelling.

Bloggingng consistently isn’t enough to drive business, there are other factors that go into developing a successful blog. One of the biggest mistakes small business owners make is to start a blog and then create content on auto pilot just to get stuff out there. Understanding how to evaluate small business blogs for effectiveness is important to know that your valuable time isn’t being wasted.I bet you think this blog is about the numbers, right?

Wrong, I very rarely evaluate the effectiveness of a blog on numbers – unless the numbers are trending the wrong way. I evaluate a blog on first impressions, content, storytelling and whether the blog is business-minded. I find asking questions around these core categories can help you understand if your blog is set up for success....

Content Marketing Mistakes in Social Media | Social Media Today

Content Marketing Mistakes in Social Media | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

A brand is essentially the sum of what people say about it. We’re connected and social now. And that’s not all. We’re hypercritical, hyperactive and so hyper-online, we’re barely offline when we sleep.

...Along the way, it’s nearly impossible to avoid subjects such as blogging, search, social, and some of the other tricks of the trade. Why? Because the best website in the world won’t make you a dime unless people come to it and find themselves engaged with the content there. There I go again. I can’t stop spouting the gospel.

I want my clients to understand the key to effective online marketing, or any marketing, is to get customers to know, like and trust you. That’s a high bar seldom achieved with a heavy dependence on ad or brochure-like communications. Ugh. Stop me now before I talk you into doing content marketing against your will....

Blogging Best Practices: How to Get More Blog Readers

Blogging Best Practices: How to Get More Blog Readers | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Want to get more blog readers? Follow these easy-to-understand best practices as part of your corporate blogging efforts and you'll be amazed at the results....

One question I’m often asked when talking about blogging best practices is, “How do I get more blog readers?” My answer? Writing great content for your corporate blog is the easy part, getting it read is what takes skill. Understanding blog post optimization and doing your homework before you write your post can go a long way toward making sure your blog content attracts readers. Sometimes when I say that “writing is the easy part” thing, writers get all bristly (and yes, it’s a word if I say it is), but it’s true.

There are lots of people out there writing some terrific stuff, but attracting readers often has nothing to do with how great your writing is. Knowing how to write for the web, which is completely different than other types of writing, knowing how to optimize your posts and understanding the importance of building your networks can make all the difference in the world. And that, my friends, is how you get more blog readers. Let’s talk about why....

11 Clever Ways to Nurture Leads With Your Business Blog | HubSpot | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Learn how you can use your blog not just as a traffic and lead generator -- but also as a lead nurturing tool....

When it comes to the role of business blogging in inbound marketing, there's no question that it fits quite nicely into the 'Attract' stage of the methodology. Because blog content makes excellent social media fodder and is naturally discoverable through search engines, it can be a phenomenal way to attract new visitors and prospects to your website. Furthermore, blogging also plays a critical role in the 'C

onvert' stage, since we all know how effective it can be for lead generation. But there's another part of the inbound marketing methodology where blogging also fits -- and doesn't get enough credit. And while it may not be where most marketers would primarily put it, it can definitely have a significant impact here, as well. That, my friend, is in the 'Close' stage -- the stage of the methodology in which marketers are actively trying to nurture leads to a point of sales-readiness. Because not all blog readers are brand new visitors, right? I bet many of the leads in your database are reading your blog -- shouldn't you pay them some attention, too? That's right! Not only can your blog help you bring in qualified visitors that you can convert into leads; it can also be a powerful lead nurturing tool.

Blogging Metrics: What to Measure, How to Measure It, and How Often

Blogging Metrics: What to Measure, How to Measure It, and How Often | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Having trouble figuring out which blog metrics matter? This post tells you exactly what to measure, how to measure it, and how often.

The challenge isn’t so much measuring our efforts, as there are enough tools out there that make this easy. It’s more about knowing what to measure, how to do it, and most importantly, what to do with the data once it’s been uncovered.

The focus here is to let you in on what we measure most frequently -- and, perhaps most interesting to you, the tools that allow us to do so....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

What metrics matter to blogging? Find out here.

Claudia Rei's curator insight, October 13, 2014 1:39 AM

As we begin our Social Media Marketing Campaign’s and set missions and objectives, it is important to understand “what to measure, how to measure it, and how often” we should monitor our progress. The article summarizes the key metrics you should use to measure success, and most importantly what to do once you have discovered this data.

Four main metrics that should be measured include: clicks, social shares, inbound links, and revenue. Clicks help to provide marketers with direction and are the greatest indicator of whether topics are resonating with their audience. Social sharing is an indicator of whether people find your content helpful. Great content will have your audience spreading messages in a way that you cannot through word of mouth. Social shares are measured based on the performance of any on-page calls-to-action. Inbound links directly affect your page,  which in turn affects how high your content ranks in search engines. Finally, tracking all revenue metrics back to the content that generated the original buzz is principal in ensuring a profitable strategy moving forward.

Some key takeaways are that marketers should review metrics and the level of engagement daily if not weekly. Since social media is contstantly evolving you must constantly stay ahead of the curve. Additionally the marketing strategy should be on going and campaign-based, and not about one-off posts. Lastly, it is apparent from this blogger that the software ‘HubSpot’ is what allows them to view detailed analytics of each specific blog post they publish to.  Moving forward with our campaign this would be helpful to gain how to handle different analytics based off of each of their social media platforms.

In the post, Tom laments that the more he guest posts and syndicates his writing, the less relevant he may become. I know that sounds counter-intuitive but he makes some good points.

The web cares about CONTENT, not necessarily authors, and Tom postulates that in our frenzy to write and distibrute content, we may be creating more and more work only to become less and less visible....

Brand Marketers: Influencer Outreach Makes Perfect Cents - InNetwork | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

...Technorati released a great report at the start of 2013 showing that after retail and brand websites, blogs are the most influential for consumer purchases. The best part is that the majority of influencers blog, and quite a few have multiple blogs! So where’s the disconnect?

Why are brand marketers only spending 6% of their social media budget on INFLUENCERS? (Brands spend about 10% of their digital marketing budget on social, with 6% of it dedicated to influencers). It’s shown to be effective and that consumers trust blogs more than social advertising and other networks. Influencers have a community that’s built on trust. When they recommend something to their community, people listen and trust them.

Why are marketers still hesitant?...
