People Will Watch a Full Video Ad … If They Get Rewarded - eMarketer

People Will Watch a Full Video Ad … If They Get Rewarded - eMarketer | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

A July 2017 report by ad agency Jun Group examined value-exchange placements for 15- and 30-second video ads in its network. (According to Jun Group, a value-exchange placement is a user-initiated digital ad placement that is viewed—or engaged with—to unlock things like points, access to Wi-Fi, music or other digital content.)

The firm found that most people within its audience network in the US were more likely to complete a video if they received some type of reward for doing so.

Teens ages 13 to 19 and adults ages 50 to 59 showed the highest video completion rates for both 15- and 30-second ads. And not surprisingly, completion rates for 15-second video ads were higher than or equal to those of 30-second units among all age groups.

What’s more, respondents younger than 40 were all more likely to complete 15-second video ads in exchange for a reward than they were to complete 30-second ads....

Infographic: 80% of Videos Drive Less Than a Third of Total Video Engagement | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Contrary to your Instagram feeds, longer video tends to drive higher engagement.

A new report from TwentyThree, a video marketing automation platform, studied over 1.5 million videos to better inform marketing and content creation teams about preconceived video myths.

The “State of Online Video in 2017” report found that videos can, and should, last longer that 90 seconds if publishers want to see higher engagement rates. While 80 percent of videos are under five minutes, they drive less than a third of overall video engagement. Mid-form and long-form videos, which are at least 15 minutes long, drive over half of all video engagement despite encompassing just 8 percent of all video....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

While marketers make short-form videos most often, a new study from TwentyThree has found that long-form videos receive the most engagement.

More Spending on Social Video Ads Is Planned - eMarketer

More Spending on Social Video Ads Is Planned - eMarketer | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

More marketers currently invest in video advertising on Facebook and YouTube than on Twitter and Instagram. But they’re increasing how much they spend on all four social media platforms.

More than two-thirds (67%) of US marketers run video ads on Facebook, while more than half (51%) do so on YouTube, according to an April 2017 survey from cloud-based video creation company Animoto. By comparison, only 25% of marketers surveyed are spending on video for Twitter, with the same percentage buying video ads for Instagram.

But that doesn’t mean Twitter and Instagram are falling completely by the wayside. In fact, half of marketers said they plan to increase their investment in social video advertising on Instagram in the next 12 months, and 52% plan to do the same on Twitter....

Facebook is favored, but YouTube, Twitter and Instagram may see increases in video ad spend

Have Media Habits Changed Among Millennials and Teens? - eMarketer

Have Media Habits Changed Among Millennials and Teens? - eMarketer | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Millennials say they are spending more time with video and social, but they are not necessarily cutting back their time with other media.

But according to a recent study, younger internet users, those ages 13 to 17, are shifting away from text-based online content—and a bit from TV—while spending more time with video and social.

Both the younger and older groups were considerably more likely to say they were spending more time streaming full-length TV shows and movies, and similar percentages said they were spending more time with short online video.

But the amplified video viewing didn’t necessarily mean they were watching less TV. Among the younger group, 40% said they were watching the same amount of TV as last year, while 35% said they were watching at least a bit less and 25% were watching at least a bit more. The older users (ages 18 to 34) were more likely to say they were....

15 Tools for Teaching History With Technology - Best of 2016

15 Tools for Teaching History With Technology - Best of 2016 | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Like a lot of other social studies teachers, I love videos. I often joke that I became asocial studies teacher so that I could run the filmstrip. (If you don’t get the filmstrip reference, ask someone born before 1980). Here are some tools for creating and sharing videos.

WeVideo (http://wevideo.com/) offers the most features of any of the tools in this list. Itis an online video creation tool that I have written about many times over the last few years. WeVideo offers templates that new users can follow to create their first videos. Advanced WeVideo users can skip the templates, use the full editor, and apply themes totheir videos by choosing them from the themes menu in the editor. In the video editoryou can upload your own media clips or use stock media clips to produce your video.

WeVideo's Google Drive app allows you to save all of your video projects in your GoogleDrive account. WeVideo also offers an Android app and an iPhone app that students canuse to capture images and video footage to add to their projects.Stupeflix (https://studio.stupeflix.com/) allows you to create audio slideshow videos up to twenty minutes in length. You do not need to register in order to create a video on Stupeflix. You can and should register if you want to be able to go back and edit your video after it has been published. To create a video on Stupeflix start by choosing a theme for your video then uploading pictures from your computer.

If you don't have any pictures on your computer you can importing some from your Flickr, Facebook, or Instagram account. Once your pictures are uploaded or imported you can drag and drop them into the sequence in which you want them to appear. You can layer text on each image. To add sound to your video you can select a soundtrack for the entire video or layer sound on each image individually. Stupeflix provides a nice gallery of free soundtracks that you can use or you can import your own audio tracks. When you're ready to see your finished product, click the preview button before publishing your video....
