At Onalytica we have been looking closely at the transformation of PR as we know it. Our vision is to evolve media relations into influencer relations professionals by managing relationships with hundreds of key influencers rather than just journalists.
Think about the numerous analysts, politicians, bloggers, thought leaders, industry professionals, stakeholders and influential consumers that all have big audiences that you want to reach. Influencer relations is a truly essential part of modern PR (we also offer a B2B influencer relations platform for PR practitioners)
One of the most time consuming parts of influencer relations (or influencer marketing) is identifying the right thought leaders. What if you just wrote a new blog and you have no idea what influencers would be interested in your content?
We’re here to help! We built a new tool to do this. Before it took up to an hour to find 10-20 relevant influencers, now you can do it in less than a minute…
Today, however, we’re taking a moment to highlight the entertainers; the people who forego the chance to show off their accomplishments and affinity for craft beer for our utter amusement.
I’ve scoured far and wide and am proud to present to you 38 of the most amusing bios from real people, beloved brands, and fictitious characters that pepper the Twittersphere. Without further ado

If all of the business to business marketers could come up to the front of the room please? Now, could you raise your hand if you think Twitter is the number one social platform for business? Hmm…wow, B2B Marketing is right. 85% of you chose Twitter as your number one social platform. LinkedIn? A close second with 82%. YouTube and Facebook? 77% and 71%. Finally, Google+? (Quick count) Yep, 36%. That’s actually higher than I expected so go Google....
Trading at the speed of tweets.... Wall Street operates at twitch-level speed, trading stocks on information the moment it comes in over the wire. So it sorta makes sense that Bloomberg, one of the world’s largest providers of financial information, will soon incorporate Twitter, the real-time information service used by 200 million people around the world, into Bloomberg’s international information platform....
HubSpot, a marketing software company founded at MIT in 2006, has revealed a brand-new analytics tool that could help companies more effectively use Twitter for branding or promotional purposes. ...Retweet Lab's data is simple to use and surprisingly powerful. For example, in my case it revealed that I get the most retweets at around 7 p.m., even tough I usually tweet the most at 9 a.m. Thanks to the Retweet Lab data, I can now start tweeting more around 7 p.m. and in theory improve my Twitter influence. Similarly, the tool notes that tweets without "calls for action," such as "please tweet this," are infinitely more effective at generating retweets than ones that include such pleas. While this sort of information is useful for my own personal "brand," it's much more likely to be useful for bigger publishers or well-known brands....
New research study identifies Twitter Tribes by unique words As a Twitter power user, I couldn’t resist looking into this Twitter research study on word usage in my favorite micropublishing channel. It’s fascinating to say the least. It’s titled "Word usage mirrors community structure in the online social network Twitter." Researchers looked at more than 250,000 users to define some very interesting Tribes. Who knew Twitter users were forming such unique Tribes and speaking their own language? Academics really do provide a useful service for the rest of us. Pointing out the sociological implications of social media and everything else we do....

...The lack of consistent correspondence between Twitter reaction and public opinion is partly a reflection of the fact that those who get news on Twitter – and particularly those who tweet news – are very different demographically from the public.
The overall reach of Twitter is modest. In the Pew Research Center’s 2012 biennial news consumption survey, just 13% of adults said they ever use Twitter or read Twitter messages; only 3% said they regularly or sometimes tweet or retweet news or news headlines on Twitter.
Twitter users are not representative of the public. Most notably, Twitter users are considerably younger than the general public and more likely to be Democrats or lean toward the Democratic Party. In the 2012 news consumption survey, half (50%) of adults who said they posted news on Twitter were younger than 30, compared with 23% of all adults. And 57% of those who posted news on Twitter were either Democrats or leaned Democratic, compared with 46% of the general public. (Another recent Pew Research Center survey provides even more detail on who uses Twitter and other social media.)...
In 2013 there is no excuse for such failed crisis communications. Any and every company should be ready to make a public statement on any crisis in one hour or less. It is good public relations; it is good media relations; it is good crisis communication; it is good social media crisis communication. So here it is on Monday afternoon, February 18, 2013 as I sit in my office near New Orleans and Burger King’s Twitter account was hacked nearly 4 hours ago. The hackers make it look like a McDonald’s account. Burger King eventually managed to get Twitter to suspend the account and pull down the content and ugly comments. But in the 140-character world of fast news, the fast food company is SLOW to officially issue a statement....
Considering how Twitter's main site has seemed to regress in recent times and greater attention has been placed on the mobile app, we've decided to give the site a makeover and show how the site can be improved... We understand that Twitter is designed more for mobile, but considering how neglected its desktop site feels – and especially since it is its main source of revenue – we decided to take matters into our own hands and present our vision of how Twitter should look and feel. The Aim Before starting the redesign, it was important to look at what Twitter does right first and incorporate those features into the new look. For one, its simplicity is its greatest strength, and so the overall aim was to evolve the platform instead of creating an entirely new interface from scratch. While it’s very tempting to fill the entire page with different columns and boxes to give users more features to interact with, doing so would make the page busier, which would compromise the overall experience. Therefore, we limited the design to two columns and placed tweets on the left-hand column to maintain consistency....
If Twitter can now assemble the raw materials of news into a meaningful place to see and understand what's happening anywhere in the world, on any topic, the instant it starts to matter, why would anyone get breaking news from another source? Twitter Tuesday announced new search capabilities that give it the upper hand as a breaking news destination over basically every other news organization on the planet, from newspapers to cable networks to websites and everything in between. When a new search begins to trend on Twitter, Twitter's new API will send the query toAmazon's Mechanical Turk service, where humans will categorize it to help make it more relevant to readers. Then Twitter can populate its Discover section with live, topical streams of news. If they want to keep up, other organizations that exist to break news need some new ideas, and fast...
For obvious reasons – have you noticed the name of this blog? – our alliances tend to lie with Twitter when it comes to comparison between the two titans: Facebook and Twitter. But to reiterate: each social media platform excels at different modes of communication.
However, for the sake of valuable analysis of the two major social networks of the digital age and also, you know, just for kicks, here are six ways in which Twitter eclipses Facebook...

If you use social media to get smart on subjects you’re inexperienced in, Twitter hashtags can help you bone up on public relations. Here are some of the best hashtags to follow and use, along with why they’re so great.
It's no small task these days to keep up with all the recent social media changes. Only a few weeks ago, we talked about the biggest new Facebook changes where the link posting iterations especially changed a lot of our behaviors.
Looking at the biggest social media statistics, it’s clear that Twitter, with 215 million active users, also needs to constantly change to keep up with the tide.
As Twitter continues to grow, the company is making big changes more often and they’re easy to miss. In case you didn’t catch them, I collected seven of the most recent Twitter changes to get you up to speed....
Just about the time a client becomes proficient using Facebook and LinkedIn, another new social media platform comes along to complicate things. Pheed, Snapchat, the new and improved MySpace, Thumb…not every platform is right for every business, and a few are a guaranteed waste of time for some. So what about Vine? Vine is an application from the makers of Twitter that allows you to create 6-second looping video using your iPhone or iPad, and share using Twitter and/or Facebook. You don’t need any editing skill to put something together – just your iPhone or iPad and your thumb (your digit acts as the camera’s start/stop tool). Posting to social media is easy, too, and explained below. We think this latest entry into the social media universe is both viable and valuable to business, if used properly...
When brands engage in friendly banter online, their quips can show personality, elicit smiles, and bring in a lot of retweet.... When you think of a Twitter feud, what comes to mind? Is it a vicious war of words between celebrities, resulting in the ultimate loss of your respect, (looking at you, Donald Trump), or is it just social anarchy? How about when your favorite brands go head to head in 140 characters or fewer? Here are three examples that show how big brands used humor and vision to interact with followers in real-time, win (or lose) with grace, and most importantly, appear human....
@sree, @jasonfalls, @prtini, @shonali, @jaybaer, @peterhimler, @laermer and @prsarahevans are some of the top social media, PR and journalism experts to follow on Twitter…. but who do they follow? Last week at a Cision “Behind the Story” breakfast panel, Sree Sreenivasan was discussing how PR pros and journalists interact on Twitter and said, “I find PR people (and journalists) are generally using Twitter poorly. Some of them use it very well and those are the ones that succeed. The best PR people I work with are the ones who are connected, not because of Twitter, but because they read a lot, know the issues and have a great rolodex.” He challenged the panelists to identify some great PR pros on Twitter, people who are “doing it right.” In addition to the panel’s recommendations (I’ve included Sree’s below), I asked some industry experts – and my personal favorites to follow on Twitter – who in PR they thought did it right on Twitter. See below why I follow them and who they recommend...
We are sad to report today, via various sources, that the nascent Brooklyn Nets PR department has (at least temporarily) abandoned its incredible Twitter account. Some speculate that the decision to “go in a different direction” on the social media front came after pretty much everyone on the Internet mocked truly amazing tweets like this one above...
Twitter helps you interact with people, but have you wondered how many people are seeing your tweets or where are they from or how you influence others? Well, there are a few tools which can analyze your twitter presence and you might be quite amazed about the data. Although Twitter hasn`t launched their Analytics tool yet, others made use of the awesome Twitter API and built some apps. I want to present you 15 apps which I consider to be the best Twitter Analytics tools which can help you track your social media presence!...

I just created a new Twitter account, and it got me to thinking about all the data visualization I've seen for Twitter tweets. I felt like I'd seen a lot, and it turns out there are quite a few. Here they are grouped into four categories - network diagrams, maps, analytics, and abstract. Twitter is a social network with friends (and strangers) linking up with each other and sharing tweets aplenty. These network diagrams attempt to show the relationships that exist among users....
More than half of U.S. business to business (B2B) marketers plan to increase spending on their social media budget in 2013, reveals a new study. 56 percent of respondents to BtoB Magazine‘s 2013 Outlook: Marketing Priorities And Plans survey said that their marketing spend on channels such as Twitter and Facebook will rise this year, with social media being favoured above both search (52.5 percent) and mobile (a surprisingly low 35.5 percent). Website development (70.1 percent) and the ever-reliable email marketing (61.9 percent) were the top digital marketing priorities....
I won't be retweeting Mashable stories this year. I understand how this sounds, believe me. But give me a chance to explain....
Why? If you’re pressed for time, here’s the elevator pitch: I don’t want to be one of thousands retweeting news stories from mega sites this year. For better use of my energy, rather than echo-chambering the news, I will do a better job of sharing other bloggers’ perspectives instead....
