iPhone Dev-Team senior member musclenerdhas posted some updates about the recent iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak status. He has expressed his appreciation on Chronic Dev-Team work on iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak.

Musclenerd has confirmed that pod2g's 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak works very well and that all devices are uncluded in iOS 5.1.1 untetheredjailbreak except for AppleTV3 and AppleTV1. Musclenerd goes ahead explaning the role of every memeber of Chronic Dev-Team. According to him iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak is similar to 5.0.1 which uses almost same methodology.

Finally Musclenerd has cleared the doubts about the release of Absinthe saying that the time and day for the release is not decided but he has mentioned that the intentions are to release it this week. Pod2g untethered jailbreak iPhone3G iPhone3GS will not work on iOS 5.1.1 unthethered jailbreak.

Earlier today Pod2g announced that his upcoming untethered jailbreak will work on all devices including iPhone4S, iPad2 and iPad3. Just now pod2g tweeted that after testing on iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS , it appears that the untethered jailbreak will not work on iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. However, those iPhone 3GS which are having old bootrom can still be jailbroken with the upcoming untethered jailbreak from pod2g.

Here is what Pod2g updated on his blog just now:

As I already said on twitter, iPod 3G and iPhone 3GS won't be compatible with the upcoming jailbreak.
Next tests on my list :
- iPhone 4S
- iPad 2

Pod2g has tested the jailbreak method on iPhone 3G and 3GS and seems like his jailbreak method does not work on these devices. Nex, Pod2g would be testing on iPhone4S and iPad2 and we really hope that his untethered jailbreak works on these devices as there are many people out there waiting for him to release an untethered jailbreak so that they can break free their devices and enjoy Cydia tweaks and themese.

If you do not rely on jailbreak and unlock then you can go ahead and update your device.

You can also update your device by connecting it to the iTunes and then checking for Update. And if you want to Update your device OTA then navigateto Settings -> Software Update on the device itself and checking if an over-the-air update is available.
